Six years ago today. At 6:07 in the evening on August 4, 2020, the port of Beirut exploded. More than 200 people were killed. Thousands were wounded. A city was torn open in less than a minute. Standing with the Yazidi community as we remember the #YezidiGenocide that began on August 3, 2014. We remember those who were murdered, the women and children subjected to unimaginable captivity, and the many who remain missing. Iraq and the international community must do more to support survivors—find the missing, hold perpetrators accountable, and help the Yazidi people safely return to and rebuild their ancestral homeland.

Praise God for turning mourning into dancing in DRC! Three years ago, 15 people were tragically killed in attack on 8eme CEPAC church in Kasindi by the Islamist militant group the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). More than 70 were injured. Amazingly, despite such extreme persecution, the church has emerged from it stronger and is growing. During a recent celebration, the church baptised eight new believers, commissioned four deacons and opened three new evangelical centres. “We have hearts full of gratitude as we celebrate this great day of victory. The ADF's goal was to put an end to the church and close its doors,” said a leader. Give thanks to God for clothing these believers with joy (Psalm 30:12). But as the threat of attacks in the region persists, please pray for the protection of churches and Christians, and ask God to encourage and strengthen their faith.

Another 𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 in Nigeria is being ignored. 28 people were reportedly killed, 3 injured, & 5 homes destroyed. Photo was taken by residents & shared with @KinoNuri. How many more Christians must be slaughtered before the world pays attention?

Gahama Jean’s family and friends carry his body away from Oupaî village in the Far North of #Cameroon. He was killed when Boko Haram militants stormed the community. They looted the village, stealing crops, clothing and valuables. Gahama was going to work on his farm when the extremist group killed him. All 300 members of the village have now fled. Gahama’s family wanted to share the video to raise awareness of the terror faced by countless Christian communities in Cameroon and across sub-Saharan Africa – and to remember their much-loved son and brother. Please pray for Gahama’s family to be comforted and for all the displaced villagers to heal from their trauma. May God’s presence be their refuge and fortress.

Iraqi influencer visits Assyrian town of Alqosh, which miraculously evaded ISIS. The terrorists were just 15km away. He went to Rabban Hormuzd, an ancient Christian monastery. Few know Alqosh also houses the Tomb of Nahum, Old Testament prophet. Alqosh is a treasure.
