You are being lied to. BECTU ceased to exist as a trade union in 2017. When you join BECTU you join a different trade union called Prospect. BECTU is run by the Prospect NEC, few of whom come from your industries. If you care for BECTU you must vote in the NEC election next year.

@TruthToOthers If the top 25% were those 7 people then it would not be 60/40 would it. Prospect has something like 240 staff. So the top 25% would be 60 people.

@TruthToOthers I'm guessing the numbers are like that because the majority of senior officials such as deputy general secretaries, national secretaries etc are men.

@TruthToOthers The pay gap data is not theoretical. It's data. The Prospect video that the @paygapapp tagged does exactly the same thing. It's a fact that a significant majority of those in higher paid roles in Prospect (and several other unions) are men.
