#DharmendraPradhan resigns following weeks of #student #protests If my #political and #historical instincts are still sound, a #government that rarely yields under pressure does not usually concede out of generosity. It tends to do so when it senses that the cost of standing firm may be higher than the cost of retreat. In that sense, this resignation should be read as damage control, not reform. This is a strategy for taking one step backwards for two steps forward. It is a huge moral victory, for students in #India no doubt. But not to be treated as the end of the struggle. Student movements have repeatedly become a moral and political force globally when they believe institutions have stopped responding to them, are suppressing their voices, and are corrupt. Keep it up. #Bravo. #Salute.
