And why did the European Union pledge a further โฌ82 million in annual contributions? Why this apparent rush to increase funding for an agency facing serious allegations, ongoing investigations, and repeated controversy? There are numerous humanitarian organisations capable of delivering aid without attracting the same level of scrutiny. Rather than pausing until the facts are fully established, certain governments and politicians appear to be accelerating their financial support to this agency. Why?
