Most people skip primary elections, but the Aug 4th WA primary is critical. An unprecedented 5 Supreme Court seats are on the ballot later on in November and the primary will help select who is on the ballot. The Court’s job is to uphold our state constitution, but it’s been failing. It recently allowed an unconstitutional capital gains tax, opening the door to a alarming possibility: allowing an even more damaging, unconstitutional state income tax. Our constitution strictly requires property taxes to be uniform, and for nearly 100 years (since Culliton v. Chase in 1933), the Supreme Court recognized that income is property—protecting us from a graduated income tax. That century-long protection is now at risk. We need justices who will uphold the clear meaning of the constitution and protect WA taxpayers. The following candidates are the most likely to uphold that 100-year tradition: 🔹 Position 1: Scott Edwards 🔹 Position 3: David Stevens 🔹 Position 5: Dave Larson 🔹 Position 7: Karim Merchant Vote in the primary. The future of our state's tax structure depends on it.

The senate preparing to go on vacation again is pure bullshit. One of the most important bills in our lifetime needs to be passed and all we are given are excuses as to why it can’t be done. In 1787, 55 men spent from May to Sept locked in a room every day. Doors locked and windows closed during the hottest Philadelphia summer in 40 years. 55 men 55 different opinions. All sworn to secrecy, no leaks to the press. They knew they needed to replace the Articles of Confederation and come up with a paper that would unite all 13 states. The country was on the brink of failure. They debated argued and yes even fighting. But they got the job done. Giving us our Constitution. Today it’s nothing but damn excuses.
