Character consistency in Midjourney is really not its strength. Omni Reference exists in version 7 but not yet in 8.1 (it should come). For now, you need to use older versions and it’s far from perfect. Midjourney excels elsewhere: artistic quality, unique style, creativity. For precise character consistency, it’s not the ideal tool.
