@jessyroos @RachelNotley @albertaNDP I suggest you take a basic economics course and then contemplate your position. Increased debt = higher share of gov revenue put towards servicing the debt. This means less money for social programs. So they just take on more debt, with higher servicing costs… and on and on.

I don’t think the problem is the political parties per say. Just stop allowing media companies to be financed by government or political parties… might help.

@jmelee8 @elonmusk @BillyM2k That’s fair. I’m also not a fan of the current political system, though it would be somewhat chaotic if there was no alignment (I think nothing would ever get done because no one would agree?). There’s definitely a problem in government that needs to be solved.

The OP was referring to the reduction in funding, and how it was going to cause serious harm/change to the ability of parents to have a voice. I guess I would argue that, atleast here, the funding change will have zero impact. No need to panic about it 🤷‍♀️

Come and have coffee, a good discussion, and rebuild our connections with the school. Most people are just afraid that if they show up they will end up with a board position though. 😂

@k_kcool @schill_dawg I can see value in it as a parent, to gain a greater understanding of why/what/how your school is doing what they do. And the time commitment is low to participate usually. But does it require big $$ from the government? I’m not sure I see the value there, even as a local chair.

@k_kcool @schill_dawg Council is meant to provide a venue for parents to reflect the wishes of the broader community for the education of its students. It’s not a place for people to lodge complaints with the school.
