@SusanGodsland Bradbury and Wyse write that “a balanced instruction approach is most likely to be successful”. But “balanced” is an ambiguous word. The government’s approach could be described as "balanced". It includes both language comprehension and word reading. See gov.uk/government/pub…
@op_ti_ma Solity's got it wrong. RWI does not state that pupils should not be shown the text in stories they hear because it is potentially confusing. Instead, RWI says that teachers should not interrupt the flow of the story by constantly pointing to words and letters.
