A woman was attacked on Kitsilano Beach in broad daylight with a piece of wood, left bleeding from the head and slipping in and out of consciousness. The accused spent less than 48 hours in custody before being released back into the community. This is exactly why Canadians are losing faith in our justice system. After years of Liberal soft-on-crime policies, violent offenders are too often released while victims are left wondering if anyone is actually on their side. Canadians deserve safe streets, real consequences, and a justice system that puts victims first.

I bring home a trapped coyote and let it loose in the kitchen. Hackles up. Teeth bared. Pissing on the floor. My wife says, "Get it out." I tell her that is a very unwelcoming and unchristian way to speak about a future house pet. The children back into the hallway. I tell them it's a rescue. I tell them fences are fear. I tell them cages are barbaric. I tell them the old rules were cruel. I tell them it will domesticate in time. Then I grab my lunchbox and leave them to live with my principles. When I get home, there is blood on the floor, and the experts who sold me on compassion are already explaining why nobody could have seen this coming. Anyway, that's Western migration policy.

The foundational principle that justice must be blind is broken each and every time a sentence is decided not on facts and law, without favoritism or prejudice, but based on a person's race or alleged oppression, real or imagined.

John Stuart Mill nailed Canada’s problem. A free country cannot survive when one side controls the schools, media, bureaucracy, courts, and cultural institutions, then treats every serious objection as misinformation, hate, or extremism. If your argument cannot survive open debate, it is not wisdom. It is weakness wearing a government badge. Canada’s problem is not that Canadians disagree. Healthy countries disagree. The problem is that too many people in power no longer think they should have to answer the other side. They confuse slogans with thought and moral posing with truth. Mill understood what our political class has forgotten: you do not even understand your own position until you can state the opposing case honestly and refute it fairly. Canada needs more of that again. Less censorship. Less sneering. Less expert class arrogance. More courage. More debate. More freedom.
