Like investing, loyalty to the right people compounds like mad! And it's the one virtue that we undermine especially as young people. I think the importance of loyalty gets deeper with age, and those who get it early benefit more from its compounding effects long term!

Poverty can also be the reason there is too much classism in Nigeria Average income earners, low income earners, high income earners.... etc all want to prove that they are not poor like the next poor person Its poverty. In a place like New York City for example, there are >300 thousand USD millionaires. In one city. Imagine that. 1 out of every 22 person you see in New York city is a millionaire in USD Its almost common to see and have money there. So its not new. that's why you might catch a millionaire walking and getting their coffee themselves in the shop you get yours and they will join the queue. You see millionaires going to bodegas too. In societies like that, there is classism but people don't wake up in the morning and set their goal to be classism against the next person. So in Nigeria, Its poverty. people want to look liberated

You have to work at a certain rate to get the right outcomes.

Immigration is a difficult decision. Getting settled is even tougher. Many don't make it through and are dropped off at the last minute on technicalities, then deported or voluntarily return, and their stories are never told. I don't know which is more painful—doing everything right and still failing, or doing desperate things and being deported. There is this incident I witnessed on an Iberia flight at Madrid Airport that still haunts me. It was humorous at first, but I later thought about how desperate it was for a man to start stripping himself naked inside the plane because he wanted to leave everything behind, as they wouldn't let him stay with his daughter. They had to take him off the plane to save others the embarrassment. Another person saw that it worked and did the same thing. They had to come to ask if any others were also thinking of getting naked? A group of four people stood up. The one that still baffles me is the lady deported from Jamaica, of all places. I knew it had to be for a crime, but she was acting so insane and wanted to open the aircraft door to jump out. She felt that death was better than the shame and uncertainty back home. People wonder why I came back to Africa when I had all the opportunities to remain abroad. I saw too much indignity being meted out to Africans out there and decided it was best for me to come back and be part of the solution to fix things. I honestly believed tech could be part of the renaissance but never considered that politics and petty tribalism could become the undoing of it all. I still have hope. I listened to a friend tell her story yesterday of doing everything right in America, getting a PhD and a great job, then losing that job and having only days to leave or be kept in a camp. She decided to leave. This is a brilliant scientist who was working at one of the top institutions. She now has to start all over and pick up the pieces of her life. The more I hear those stories, the more I look to what China has done and hope and pray that maybe we can pull off such a miracle. According to our parents, “they don't have two heads.” Our corrupt politicians and criminal tribalists may also need to start getting the death penalty before we achieve sanity.

Don't lose your cutting edge trying to get everyone to like you. Those who succeed in the public square and make huge impact are people with deep convictions and are not apologetic about it. They daily improve and refine what they believe through study and answering questions, but they are rooted in something. Those who have no roots but drift with trends and winds always wanting to be on the "popular side" lose the respect of all. Paul said this of his apostleship. 2 Corinthians 6:8 "By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true." Only false prophets are loved by all. Luke 6:26 "Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets."

If you know you don't like her like that, leave her alone. Stop sending mixed signals. Stop using her affection-induced attention to stroke your ego. It's wicked and ungodly. Stop it, brother. You're God's son, don't behave like satan.

Be excited for people when they succeed. When a friend or family member reaches an important milestone like getting a promotion or making their first sale or scoring acceptance into their desired program, celebrate it. Buy them a drink. Send them a card. Tell them you’re proud to know them. Being thrilled on someone’s behalf is a lovely way to be. Winning is better when shared.
