@KayJebelli That's not a very nuanced view of things. You can be interested in protecting people's privacy i.e. not wanting Google to know every detail of your life, while supporting helpful functionalities with the appropriate safeguards. It's not one or the other.

@laz_radic Bizarrely the European Commission had nothing against Twitter's old system for verification. And X was offered to remedy the situation - they didn't and it's their choice, but then don't come crying with the consequences of your actions.

@laz_radic This is so disingenuous. The problem is that with the new system anyone can impersonate another person and spread disinformation just by paying a tribute to Musk. It's basically fraudulent behaviour and masquerading this as a fight for free speech is laughable.

@KayJebelli 1) French companies who breach the law also get fined dataguidance.com/news/france-cn…, 2) the fines are proportional to the companies' revenues. It makes no sense to fine Google $10 000 otherwise they would never comply. They can stop whining an comply.

@laz_radic Yes. There was a time where supermarkets did not have their own brands front and center of every shelve, were we less happy as consumers? Also interesting to see how in many supermarkets the only organic brands are the supermarket's own... But of course it's pure coincidence
