This is the same forest, the same community, the same fight → just a different company logo on the felling order. Villagers say it plainly: government changes, the bulldozers don't stop. Rehabilitation for displaced villages doesn't rebuild what's lost → sacred hills, ancestral land, a forest that's stood for generations. You cannot relocate a way of life into a resettlement colony. This isn't energy security. It's 90 lakh tonnes of coal a year, extracted at the cost of India's largest unfragmented central forest → for a private company's balance sheet, not the public's. If the state assembly's own resolution can be quietly overridden, what exactly is consent worth in this country? The worst offender: Shri Brajkamad Surabhivan Shodh Sansthan in Deeg → ₹13.77 crore siphoned off, 20,553 fake or suspicious tags found in a single AG special audit spanning 2021-22 to 2024-25. This is a government that puts gau raksha on every election poster. Turns out protecting the cow's image was easier than protecting the actual cow → or the taxpayer's money meant for her care. The department has now ordered full recovery, warning legal action against anyone who doesn't repay. But an order issued only after an auditor catches a multi-year scam isn't oversight → it's damage control. Every fake tag is a real cow that went without food, shelter, or care while someone else collected her grant. Where was this government's own monitoring for 4 years, while this ran unchecked?
