The biggest waste in software is building features (or a product) that nobody wants. What’s even worse is that they might want it but you aren’t communicating it well enough. Focus on building things based on needs/wants and then clearly communicate them.

Write copy first, then develop. Write the sales copy for a piece of software before you develop it. It forces you to make sure all the features you need to sell it are in there. When a developer asks, “Is this feature essential?” you can look at your copy and quickly decide.

Strategy & Lesson: You can't predict how users will respond to any specific feature. The best thing you can do is put it out there, listen to the market, and make the necessary adjustments.

Do this before you “fail fast” with your software product... The greatest product in the world goes unsold if you cannot persuade the market of it's value. Take the time to construct a great offer along with persuasive copy that clearly demonstrates your product’s value.

Your email inbox is losing you money. A user emails you about a great feature idea that everyone would love and that improves your product. But it’s lost somewhere in your inbox amongst emails from your team, other users, etc. Store all ideas in one easy-to-navigate database.

More profit = more stress. As traffic and profits grow, so will the complaints, feedback, challenges and feature requests. The only defense is to prioritize based on your business goals and market feedback. Make improvements directly from customer suggestions.
