An off-duty police officer is accused of chasing down an SUV and using a PIT maneuver that sent it rolling over. Four people were h¥rt, and he now faces multiple felony charges. According to investigators, 38-year-old Hermitage Patrolman Derek Jeziorkowski was off duty on the night of June 26 when an incident involving his son at a Walmart escalated. Authorities allege that when the occupants of an SUV tried to leave the area, Jeziorkowski pursued them, made contact with their vehicle, and performed a PIT maneuver. The SUV left the roadway, made contact with a utility anchor wire and a tree, then overturned. Four people were inside the SUV—three 18-year-olds and one 33-year-old. Two were taken to the hospital with suspected serious injur!es. Witnesses told investigators that after the rollover, Jeziorkowski approached the vehicle and said, "This is what happens when you ?!?! around with my kid... You would do the same thing if it was your kid." He has been placed on administrative leave while the case moves through the court system. He is charged with: • 4 Counts of Aggravated Assault • 4 Counts of Simple Assault • 4 Counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person (REAP) • Multiple traffic violations The allegations remain accusations, and the charges will be resolved through the legal process.
