Republicans have had full control of the federal government for the past 18 months. Here is how they govern: -Enacted broad tariffs that took an economy called the envy of the world and slowed it to a crawl. -2024 had 2.9% inflation. Today it is 4.2%. -The lowest earners had been seeing the largest wage gains. In 2025, they reversed that: not only did they have the lowest gains, but they were also losing ground to inflation. -Now the average wage is also losing ground, with a 0.8% decrease due to the high inflation. -2023 and 2024 combined averaged over 165,000 jobs created each month. 2025 and 2026 combined are only 40,000 per month. -GDP growth dropped from 2.8% in 2024 to 2.1% last year, and down to 1.6% so far this year. -An ill-planned, pointless war was started in Iran. Then, the US gave up because the war was so bad for the economy and gained nothing for the loss of life and equipment. -Our allies are moving away from us. Our trading partners are looking elsewhere. -The president has used the White House to enrich himself and his family with billions through grifts. -Republicans don't even talk about their one major piece of legislation anymore, the "One Big Beautiful Bill, because it kicked a million kids off of food assistance, made millions lose their healthcare, and accelerated the deficit and debt, all so that corporations and billionaires could get more tax breaks and loopholes. -The top 1% now hold as much wealth as the bottom 90%. -They pretend they gave you a tax cut, too, but they actually taxed you more. The average income tax refund increased by ~$300, but the average household paid over $1,500 in tariffs. Then there are the higher prices from inflation, making it even worse. America is worse off today than it was in January 2025, and Republicans are to blame.

Note that the $8.9 billion in federal money going to the 14 Trump and Lutnick companies is equal to the entire amount of federal assistance Western North Carolina has received for Hurricane Helene recovery. Rampant corruption in plain sight . . . and Republicans see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. Their sons were soon doing business with partners in a deal that their fathers were negotiating, continuing a pattern of self-enrichment in the second Trump administration that has few precedents in American history.” . . . . . “One or both families have financial ties to at least 14 companies that are actively working with the federal government on critical mining deals, including the Kazakhstan project, according to federal filings examined by The New York Times. All 14 of these companies have either benefited directly from offers of financial assistance from the Trump administration, or have pending permit applications before the Commerce Department, which Mr. Lutnick oversees, The Times found. @Sidknee67920822 @drterrysimpson Small pox was not a disease of filth. Smallpox struck people exposed to it, regardless how clean their lodgings. Polio was similar, but with the curious addition that it often struck kids with the cleanest upbringing. If you check history of polio you’ll note fretting over this.

Ignoring Smallpox that was a world wide killer and wiped out most of the Native Americans, and ignoring how we almost eliminated polio, got rid of the words and no evidence any caused autism. We don't need saving from anything other than diatribe from someone who doesn't know science or history

Good grief. This is one reason why you shouldn’t get your science information from politicians. This is one of the most profoundly dumb claims I’ve ever seen. Transgenic mice are not transgendered. They have DNA from a different source for gene expression. That enables them to be used for research into multiple diseases, cancer, diabetes, etc. It has absolutely nothing to do with gender and it certainly doesn’t change it.

Before Mel Brooks directed a single movie, he was an 18-year-old combat engineer in the Battle of the Bulge, one of the bloodiest battles American soldiers fought in all of World War II. His job was to find German landmines so a specialist could pull the fuses, and he did it while shells came down around him. He made it home and spent the next seventy years making people laugh. The kid who fought the Nazis spent a career making fun of them. All of that put him in rare company. Fewer than two dozen people have ever won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony, the four biggest awards in American entertainment, and Brooks is one of them. He is also the only person ever to win an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Tony all for writing. The stage version of The Producers won 12 Tony Awards in 2001. No show before or since has won more. He also did something quieter. His company, Brooksfilms, paid for some of the most serious dramas of the time and left his own name off them on purpose. In 1980 it financed The Elephant Man and handed the film to an unknown director named David Lynch, who had been working as a roofer to pay rent. Brooks left "Mel Brooks" off the posters so nobody would show up expecting a comedy. The film earned eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. Brooksfilms went on to back David Cronenberg's The Fly and the Jessica Lange drama Frances. He turns 100 today. The LEGO box behind him in that photo only goes up to age 99, one year below where he is now. He has a Spaceballs sequel coming to theaters in April 2027, with Brooks back as Yogurt.
