There is a significant difference between respectfully terminating resuscitation and presuming futility.
I'm working on a project to make recommendations for management of out of hospital traumatic cardiac arrest. I'm presenting the #EMS perspective. What should be included? What are your concerns? How do we build a recommendation that works in the "real-world?"
From research, training, and personal experience, the "pragmatic" approach mentioned here is key. Most triage systems fall apart under pressure, and are useless if not regularly practiced. Providers need to be competent and confident. TST may help. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/14…
No triage tool or MCI management system is perfect for all situations, but simpler is better for provider retention and practice.
