I will always remember when I first heard Remember Jah by Satsang—it was in an Apple Music recommended playlist. Somehow it found me at exactly the right moment. I was driving to work, the low hum of the engine steady beneath me and the faint scent of morning coffee lingering in the car, asking myself, Where am I supposed to be? What does God want from me? Then that song came through my car’s Bluetooth like an answer I didn’t know I needed. Sometimes the messages we need don’t arrive in big, dramatic ways. Sometimes they come through a simple recommendation, a melody, and a few words that remind us to slow down, trust the journey, and keep the faith. There are moments in life when you realize you are standing in the presence of history. For me, one of those moments was seeing Clive Davis at the Grammy Awards. He wasn’t just a music executive. He was a visionary who changed the soundtrack of our lives. From Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Santana, Janis Joplin, Billy Joel, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, and countless others, Clive Davis had an extraordinary gift for recognizing greatness and helping artists share it with the world. His influence stretched across generations and genres, shaping popular music for more than half a century. Today, as news of his passing spreads, I find myself thinking about that moment I saw him. He carried himself with quiet confidence, but his legacy was anything but quiet. It roared through stadiums, played on car radios, comforted broken hearts, and became the soundtrack to millions of lives. The music industry has lost one of its greatest architects. We have lost a man whose ears heard possibility where others heard uncertainty, and whose belief in artists changed the course of music history forever. He was 94 years old and remained an influential figure in music until the very end. Thank you, Clive Davis, for believing in music, for believing in artists, and for giving the world so many songs that will outlive us all. Rest peacefully. Your melody will never fade.
