Polymarket deleted their tweet because they wanted to stop the backlash they were getting for it. I won’t let them. Prediction markets, and polymarket specifically are disgusting sites who only exist because enough people lose money on them that it keeps them running. The normalization of this website, especially within the League of Legends community, is one of the most alarming things that has happened in recent years. League creators are getting paid hundreds, if not thousands per quote tweet, as well as 5 figure monthly salaries to promote them on stream and it’s at a point now where this is just accepted. It shouldn’t be. Prediction markets, gambling websites, and sports betting sites are willing to shill tens of thousands of dollars to content creators because they know the viewers of said creator will lose infinitely more than they pay for the sponsor. How can this be okay? Money, especially in this economy, is hard to come by. But throwing your viewers and the people who support you under the bus because you want to make a few thousand extra every month should inspire criticism, not acceptance. I want to clarify something. Being introverted doesn’t always mean they’re shy. The two often go hand in hand, yes, but they aren’t the same thing. Shy: Feeling nervous around others, often because you’re afraid of what they’ll think of you. Introverted: Recharging your energy with quiet time or being alone, as opposed to socializing or being around people (extrovert). This little scene? The way they can just be silly around each other? That has nothing to do with being introverted. That mainly has to do with comfortability. And the reason shyness and introversion often get lumped together is because all people see is someone quiet and reserved. But being quiet because you’re shy stems from fear, whereas being quiet as an introvert is about reserving energy. I’m an introvert through and through. I prefer my alone time. I need my peace and quiet. Socializing at events or going out often takes me a whole day or more to recover. I will absolutely dance like this out in public. I will make silly poses when taking pictures. The catch is I will only do it in good company. If you do not match my whimsy, or at the very least allow me to indulge in mine without judgment, I will keep it on lockdown. I will reserve my energy for someone who will accept and appreciate it. So the next time you describe yourself or someone else as introverted, consider asking yourself if you actually mean “shy.” There is nothing wrong with either of the two, but they are not the same thing. And I’m tired of people thinking I’m shy when I’m just introverted and waiting for someone worth opening up to. Anyway, thank you for coming to my Kim Talk ™️
