There does not exist a more annoying person than the right wing contrarian grifter. The original Odyssey is in the public domain, meaning these people could have done this literally whenever they wanted. How much did Ryan Clark advocating for black players to boycott schools in states that supported diminishing the voters rights act play a role in his firing. Espn is partner with the SEC and that’s ground zero. The NAACP and the Congressional Black Caucus have called on Black athletes and fans to boycott the athletic programs of public universities in states that are taking steps that the nation’s oldest civil rights group says are restricting Black voting rights. Launched on Tuesday, the NAACP’s “Out of Bounds” campaign urges current and prospective Black athletes, their families, alumni and fans to “withhold athletic and financial support” from major public universities in states that “have moved to limit, weaken or erase Black voting representation.” If Black athletes participate in the boycott, it could deplete rosters for powerhouse football and basketball programs across the Southeastern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference for NAACP’s out of bounds campaign, which calls out Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas and South Carolina as states to boycott, arguing that the athletic programs of those states’ major universities are especially reliant on Black athletic talent and should protect Black political interests.

Ryan Clark is just the latest. Cam Newton gone too today. Before that, Bomani Jones. Jemele Hill. Jalen Rose. Max Kellerman. Dan Le Batard. Howard Bryant barely seen (read his books!). Call out racism too much at ESPN & you’ll be gone. Pander to Charlie Kirk base? Get a raise. As for the Clark-Peter Schrager dust up? That was last year & can’t be the specific reason. However, ESPN prioritizing white feelings in this illustrative example is definitely broader reason given the list. It all tracks.
