The golden age of Europe when all of this was Catholic. The entirety of these peoples,kingdoms,and clans united under a single faith.
Modern society obsesses over process and mechanism rather than composition. With every organization, group, institution, form of government the truth is simple- it's the people who matter, far more than the process. You could come up with the dumbest form of government, with the stupidest rules - i.e. a new president every day, chosen by lottery. If everyone in the nation is a fit, blonde, 160 IQ type, the results will be perfect, far better than an average country which has "optimized" the policies and procedures of its democracy.
