@whitecatprophcy This!!! I was the bishop and had been holding it in. When the damn broke, I vomited out where I was which was a shock. We are still learning to navigate it all, and it seems to go in waves. How has it gone for you since that initial conversation?

@ApostateAbish @crazyus You have every right to be mad. It’s also possible that the records were moved without his knowledge by a ward clerk who made that decision. I know I had a clerk who’d moved records once that I’d promised I wouldn’t move. I just hope it was a mistake and not an outright lie.

@deconning It’s a grind. And it takes its toll on the whole family. It was freeing to be released and step back. It makes me sad when I see bishops sacrificing everything for the sake of blessings in eternity now that I believe they are a pawn wasting their best years.

With modesty, you may decide that much of it was cultural and let them be them.

For starters—you can let go of much of it, because it doesn’t matter. Examine the underlying principle to see what matters. Then plan

It was apparent to me in those moments that this was a risk management function to protect the organization. It fell to me, an untrained business person, to choose how to support the victim.

@not_even_lost If you’re in Utah, I think it’s possible that their lives are full and they don’t look past what they have. I also have a theory that many are struggling, even subconsciously, and there is a fear that getting to close will lead to their unraveling. It’s fear based and unfortunate

@RussRyanLaw @ReformedMormon This is so true. It is so refreshing to get off that treadmill and live life more fully. So much of that “service” was meaningless and even created harm for others sometimes. Now I can help others out when/how I want—and from an even more compassionate space.
