I always thought Hungary was the track most suited to the 2026 cars, so will be interesting how the racing will be this weekend. There’s no getting over the poor battery deployment rules, but in terms of following and wheel to wheel, Hungary always had decent racing pre-2017. There are plenty of big braking zones so I doubt deployment will be as much of a problem here. The smaller, more nimble cars should help that. Hopefully we see cars going for moves through turns 3-4 once again - as the cars post 2017 took that away from us.

I’m not talking about football records or numbers. Just raw, player quality. The natural quality is simply worse, just watch it. Take the 10 best wingers, centre forwards and centre halves in current world football and pit them against any other era and they come up second best.

I’m the opposite in F1 because it is a purely objective - look at my latest post on Norris. I know what I see🤣🤣 Football is not evolving - you also see it in other sports. Many World Records in athletics from 5-15 years ago still stand in the modern day. Athletes are no longer evolving - it’s plateaued already.

And what you’re saying really has no relevance. They all had great years relative to each other. But what they’re doing on the pitch, with the ball at their feet, is mediocre compared to the elite players of 10-15 years ago. Not a single winger in world football can cross, short or dribble like a player of Nani’s calibre. Chelsea are paying £120m for Morgan freaking Rogers. A disgrace, in my view.

What is this shocking take. Compare a driver to their teammate - he’s making Russell look distinctly average this year, especially on race pace. Forget about Spa due to Russell’s issues and that doesn’t change. Watch races like Monaco, Miami, Japan, Spain. He won 5 races in a row at 19 years old and will no doubt end the year with double digit wins. What else do you want Antonelli to do? Get out of his car and push it over the line?
