A Midtown Manhattan tower was evacuated after officials said two structural columns buckled and floors were sagging between the 21st and 26th floors. The building at 235 East 42nd Street — the former Pfizer headquarters — was being converted from offices into a major residential project with around 1,600 apartments. Nearby buildings, including a school, were also evacuated as officials monitored the structure for a possible localized collapse. No injuries have been reported.

🚨 So Nigel Farage hopes to win a by election in Clacton and escape scrutiny. Apparently the standards investigation does not automatically die. According to paragraph 40 of the Procedural Protocol to the MPs’ Code of Conduct: • The investigation would be suspended while he is no longer an MP. • If he wins the by-election and returns to Parliament, the investigation resumes. • Even if he loses, it could still be resumed. • The by-election result might influence any eventual sanction or rectification. This means a “chicken run” is not a clean escape. The donor scrutiny (Harborne £5m + Cottrell benefits) could still hang over him if he returns.
