‼️Oregon has the highest number per capita of registered sex offenders but only 1,756 are listed on the website. 31,869 are not listed. (2024) -Most sex offenders commit dozens of crimes before they are apprehended. -Less than 1 in 10 children tell anyone they are being abused and very few victims exhibit signs. -30-52% recidivism rate. We must Overturn SB48 in Oregon. It is insane and makes our communities unsafe. The goal of the measure is to put an end to what many describe as Oregon’s “catch and release” system, where suspected criminals are immediately released before trial and then never show up INCLUDING SUSPECTED SEX OFFENDERS. The current guidelines call for the immediate release, sometimes without bail or arraignment, for people arrested for hundreds of crimes, including 150 felonies, like auto theft, identity theft, second-degree arson, and FAILING TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER. In Multnomah County, the DA’s office says a rough count last year found roughly half of those accused felons released failed to appear for trial. They say in the vast majority of felony cases, no one in Multnomah County is tasked with finding those fugitives. We must speak up about overturning SB48 in Oregon. Be vocal. We need to change this.
