Unsure what to make of the post match interview from Martin o Neill yesterday, I think he’s either just playing a game with his comments or he genuinely thinks there was not much between the two sides on the day.
@Graeme1872rfc This is why the Old Firm is so clear of many other derbies around the world, the passion and banter surrounding it is unrivalled. My mate is a Celtic fan and he thinks their period of dominance is over but I think it’s a bit early to say. I would expect them to spend in January.
The international break is the best time to change managers but I don’t see any managers coming in and changing that much without adding to squad which would be in January anyway. I think they will stick with him, what are your thoughts? Will he stay or go?
Some people calling for his head and saying his days are numbered, but I think given his track record and what he achieved last season this would be an error. If he does go who would replace him? Personally I’d lay some blame at the board and squad ahead of him.
Individual quality barely been brought into the equation but a 30/30/30 split between the rest shows how close a game this is to call. I’m thinking 4-2 Rangers -tinted glasses on. I expect a Celtic response from last week, but whether they have enough to win remains to be seen.

I think if Celtic win they will bounce back and the pressure on the manager will ease again. If Rangers win or draw I’d expect them to go on a run til around at least Christmas possibly unbeaten. If Rangers lose however I’d expect mixed form from them again and Celtic to push on.
Personally I feel that the games on a knife edge. It’s upto Celtic to turn around their form and stop the rot from the previous two games. Rangers are well placed given recent form but Celtic have had time to adapt and prepare.

@steross769 I’ve seen it happen before but not often, would the players who dug in last year for Celtic have managed to get a result yesterday?
Squad quality is leading the poll again. But any decent coach knows good players are only half the battle — the rest is how you set them up and how they respond. What’s the one thing that can level the playing field when the squad isn’t as strong?

I find that often the tactical element comes into play more at the higher levels and this would not have as big a bearing at a lower level when there’s clear disparity on squad levels but the game yesterday was more of an even playing field for tactics to be able to be the edge.

@B7I4N_ That’s a fair point provided they all listen and take it on board. Sometimes the players attitudes can be a stumbling block at times
@OfficialDinsey agreed mate, good players always find moments to win games. Also these guys usually have a winning mentality also which counts for a lot more than it’s given credit for
In summary I think a good squad which does the basics such as shape and winning individual duels etc will beat most teams in and around its level regardless of fitness and coaching. I feel the tactics and fitness matter most when at higher levels and it’s an even playing field.
Only occasionally I’ve found tactics and coaching has played a massive part in being a difference maker. Usually it’s for big occasions where a bold call to change things can work or not. 9/10 times most coaches will be doing similar to yourself anyways
