🏗️Site Inspection Update |Laerskool Generaal Nicolaas Smit,Hercules 📍 The A-Team conducted a site inspection at Laerskool Generaal Nicolaas Smit in Hercules to assess progress on the school's renovation project. The project is currently 78% complete, with learners back in 18 completed classrooms while construction continues. 📚 🚧 Construction is currently underway at Block BCA, Block BDA, Block BA and the Main Hall, where roofing, ceilings, electrical installations, flooring and finishing works are progressing. However, the overall pace of work remains slower than expected despite the approved Extension of Time. ⚠️ The contractor has been instructed to increase labour resources, strengthen site supervision, improve OHS compliance, and fast-track outstanding Certificates of Compliance and fire safety measures. The Department will continue to closely monitor progress to ensure timely delivery of quality infrastructure for learners and educators. 🏫 #TacklingG13 #GrowingGautengTogether

📍 Site inspection at Thubelihle Intermediate School in Jabavu, Soweto. The project to extend the administration block and renovate classrooms and ablution facilities is now 97% complete, bringing the school closer to completion. Current work includes ceiling installation at Blocks A & B, electrical works and fire booster pump connection at Block D, tiling of walkways at Blocks A, B & C, and general cleaning and housekeeping across the site. Challenges include cash flow constraints due to one outstanding payment certificate. Risks requiring attention include insufficient ventilation in a corner classroom at Block C and the outstanding fire pump connection. 🏫 The A-Team conducted a site inspection at Semphato Junior Secondary School in Soshanguve, where upgrades and refurbishment are underway to provide learners and educators with a safer, improved learning environment. Progress on site has been affected by material shortages, outstanding payments to some service providers and delays in key infrastructure works. The inspection also highlighted the need to strengthen health and safety compliance and address quality issues before project handover. Current work includes stormwater infrastructure, underground tank works and the replacement of fire water pipes. 🏗️ The A-Team conducted a site inspection at Bafeti LSEN School in Mabopane to monitor progress on the renovation and expansion project. The development includes new and upgraded school buildings, sporting facilities, walkways, parking areas and a perimeter fence. Current overall progress stands at 77%. 🚧 Current work includes overall painting, construction of walkways, landscaping, LP gas installation, fire water hydrants, combi courts and soccer pitch maintenance. Outstanding electrical, mechanical and building works across several blocks remain a priority before completion. ⚠️ The inspection also identified quality, safety and compliance concerns, including roofing defects, fire evacuation risks, electrical issues and delays in project completion. 🏗️ The A-Team inspected St Ansgar’s Combined School, Randburg to monitor progress on the upgrade project. Works include replacing asbestos classrooms with mobile classrooms, refurbishing classrooms, the admin block & kitchen, constructing a new ablution block, parking bays, electrical rewiring, and stormwater & sewer services. 🚧 Overall project progress stands at 24.22% (Building: 55.45%, Electrical: 17.21%). Good progress is being made on assembling mobile classrooms, retaining walls, stormwater and sewer works, classroom renovations, kitchen upgrades, parking bays, and the ablution block. ⚠️ Key issues remain: learners are still using asbestos classrooms, quality concerns on some finishes, relocated mobile classrooms need to be secured, and staff parking is limited during construction.
