Reminder that our social media will be on hiatus!
If you have questions, please call us on any of our numbers. We will be more than happy to assist you.
Thank you for all the support over the years!
Without you, there would be no GeekABC.
Remember that if you would like to come by the shop, there's no appointment needed. We do recommend you call beforehand, just in case, though.
In exactly 1 week, the GeekABC social media will be going on hiatus.
If you have questions, please call us instead.
The Fairfax shop can be reached at (703) 539-6080.
Our hours will be updated on our website, so please check there if you plan to come in.
Good luck!
For your projects, work, school, dreams, and more: we wish you the best of luck. No matter what hardships you may face, we want you to see the rainbow on the other side of the storm.
Make sure you check the minimum and recommended specs for programs you want to use!
These are easier to find for games, but others can be found on forums. Try to aim for the recommended specs, especially for graphics, unless you want to run things on the lowest settings.
With Windows 11 now out, we advise you to exercise a bit of caution. We usually recommend waiting about a month to ensure the new OS is working as intended.
Currently, it also doesn't support Android apps just yet, so wait a bit if that's what you're looking for.
Friendly reminder that our Fairfax shop on Pickett Rd is accepting drop-offs for diagnostics.
This service takes about 3 days to complete, varying based on our current queue. For most computers, this assessment is also free!
Just a reminder that we currently are only taking walk-ins at our Fairfax location on Pickett Rd.
If you want to swing by, there's no appointment needed. Most computers are eligible for our free diagnostic, as well.
Please be careful when uploading photos of yourself.
There are plenty of horror stories where people have been located by only the scarcest of details in their photo. To help prevent that, please keep personal accounts private and strip location data from your photos.
It's already almost October!
Will your neighborhood be trick-or-treating?
If they are, you get to see all the cute costumes.
If not, more candy for you, right?
It's a win-win situation!
Take a few moments to just relax.
Close your eyes, lean back, and listen to the world around you.
Sometimes, we get so caught up in our fast-paced lives that we forget to give our minds time to rest.
A refreshed mind has a better chance at success.
Just like how your computer needs maintenance, your body does too.
Make sure you're taking care of yourself, so you can keep running at max efficiency. This means eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep.
Don't neglect your own health.
How is school going?
If you have any problems with your computer, please drop it off at our shop in Fairfax. We'll take a look and see what your computer needs to get working again, as well as the cost of doing so.
If your hard drive is clicking, turn off your computer ASAP!
The longer you keep a clicking HDD running, the more damage it will do to the disk itself.
Note: This would be hardware repair, which we cannot do for hard drives. Your best bet would be to send it into a specialist.
Just a reminder that we will be CLOSED tomorrow and Monday for Labor Day!
We are open today for our normal hours (10AM - 6PM), though!
If you plan on dropping off your computer, remember that diagnostic time is based on business days.
We can't diagnose if we're not here!
No matter what you plan on using your computer for, make sure to check what specs you need!
While minimum specs are helpful, you should aim to meet the recommended specs to be comfy. This applies to any software.
Very old software may need a specific OS to even run!
If you have specialty programs, please let us know!
Any OS upgrade can possibly cause issues with older programs, since support eventually stops for them. It's always a good idea to let us know if one of your software needs a specific OS version to run.
Make sure all of your technology is in working order for the new school year. Classes nowadays seem to expect everyone to at least have access to a computer and possibly a printer.
If you don't have them, check with your local library!
Update: We will be closing slightly early today!
Everyone needs to be out of the parking lot by 8pm, because they will be working on the lines. Anyone still there risks being towed.
As such, we will start closing up about 30 mins early, so stop by before then.
