The greatest gift we can give people is not dependence on government, but the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their families.
The More Government Gives, The Less People Rise History shows that prosperity is not created by government programs. It is created by freedom, opportunity, personal responsibility, strong families, and the ability to keep more of what you earn.
A helping hand can be valuable in a season of need. A system that keeps people dependent for generations is something entirely different.
The goal should never be to make poverty more comfortable. The goal should be to help people rise above it.
But over time, dependence replaces self-reliance, incentives disappear, economic growth slows, and the very people it claims to help become trapped on a treadmill they can never seem to escape.
The tragedy of socialism is that it often begins with good intentions. It promises security, benefits, and support for those who are struggling.
This is a good program!

@ericmidwest @shoesonplease @KevinRinke I have no problem with you tagging me. One thing I learned from spending years in the political arena is that campaigns don’t make decisions based on emotion. They make decisions based on data, analytics, polling, fundraising, voter engagement, and probability of victory.
@ericmidwest @shoesonplease @KevinRinke Republicans will have disagreements during the primary process. That’s normal. But once voters make their choice, we must unite behind the nominee and focus on the larger goal ahead. The stakes are too high for anything else.
@ericmidwest @shoesonplease @KevinRinke The bigger issue facing Michigan and the U.S. is the spread of socialism & the continued growth of policies that expand government control, increase dependency, and move our state further away from the principles of individual liberty, personal responsibility, & economic freedom.
@ericmidwest @shoesonplease @KevinRinke However, I have also said repeatedly that if John becomes the Republican nominee, I will support him in the general election. At some point, primaries end and the real battle begins.

In my opinion, his record leaves a lot to be desired, and because of that, I will not be supporting him in the Republican primary.
@ericmidwest @shoesonplease @KevinRinke Do I know exactly what data they’re seeing? No. But having lived in that world, I understand how these decisions are made. Endorsements at that level are rarely personal. They’re strategic. For the record, my position on @JohnJamesMI has not changed.
