Validation shows your child that they are important enough for you to listen to and that you want to take the time to understand their concerns. Redirection is the time that you show them how to process and handle their big emotions and show them their options.

“Follow the child” is a common Montessori phrase that acknowledges that each child is unique, and in turn means that teachers are not the leaders in a child's learning journey. Teachers, or parents, are there to support the child in their learning journey.
