Tales of two ultra-marathoners: Ashwini Balaganur and Shilpi Prasad . Meet Ashwini and Shilpi, two powerful women who are not lifting weights but uplifting many women by their amazing fitness journeys. Ashwini Balaganur, Senior Manager, Delivery Management,Kyndryl, began her marathon journey in December 2024 and has completed 12 marathons (5K, organized for social causes. Her achievements include First Runner-Up in the 8K HARD Miles Challenge, First Runner-Up in BEAT THE CLOCK 1.0 (weightlifting), Second Runner-Up in AMRAP ELITE (weightlifting), and Second Runner-Up in BEAT THE CLOCK 3.0 (weightlifting). She also earned a city rank of 66 in Bangalore and an all-India rank of 97 in the CULT UNBOUND CHALLENGERS. Ashwini says, “At Kyndryl, she is driven by knowledge, strength, hope & confidence to weave the tapestry of life with the thread of growth, challenges, milestones & triumphs.” Shilpi Prasad, Operations Lead at Kyndryl India, exemplifies strength and resilience. After the tragic loss of her husband, Prashant Kumar, in a cycling accident in 2022, she found support in a running community. As a mother of two, Shilpi honoured his memory and embraced a renewed passion for life by participating in Ironman Goa 70.3, a triathlon that includes a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run. On April 4, Shilpi completed 25 km as part of a 100 km relay at the Invincible Women Ultra Run in Pune, running alongside a visually impaired participant. This achievement demonstrates not only physical endurance and discipline but also empathy, inclusion, and teamwork.
