Class 455 farewell railtour touches down in Haslemere – and the signallers mark the occasion in style!
Signal Box trustees are grateful to decorating suppliers Brewers, Haslemere, who are donating paint for both the signal box and the museum space above the ticket hall. In the picture, Brewers manager Simon Acott (left), hands the first pot of paint to trustee, John Harris.
1980s-vintage Class 455 units (like this one at Guildford) occasionally visit Haslemere. There's a final visit on Sunday 21 December. It's a planned stop for the SWR and BLS Class 455 farewell tour. Just 400 tickets via the BLS website from Monday 10 November.
Just a matter of hours now until the last Portsmouth-bound train of today gets the final green light from Haslemere Signal Box. Then it's a nine-day shutdown between Guildford and Havant while upgrades to track and signals are completed.
After 130 years ... just a few days' service left. But it's all set for preservation. Read all about it at haslemereinfohub.co.uk #haslemere
