@GrumpyOldGit5 @redrumlisa By law (1989 Act), HRAs are ring-fenced and cannot be subsidised by general taxes. Rents literally pay off the building loans. Suggesting public infrastructure has "no return" means you don't know what a multiplier effect is. Stick to simple bookkeeping.

@NHSMillion I have had conversations with staff at my GP practice. They claim "no shows" are a huge issue, so yes I think there should be a penalty. It's hard enough to get an appointment as it is without inconsiderate arses abusing the system and getting away with it.

@GrumpyOldGit5 @redrumlisa They ended up in debt because they took out loans to build the infrastructure. It’s called capital investment, like a mortgage. Rents paid those loans off, the accounts ran at a surplus until Right to Buy forced them to sell assets at a 70% loss. I thought you knew this..?
