if people buy, you build with proof in your pocket. if nobody does, you found out in a weekend instead of a year.
an empty shelf with a checkout button is the cheapest research you'll run. free tools to map it: heywork.shop
put up the thing that comes before the thing. a simple page, a short description, and a real button that says buy or reserve.
you're not tricking anyone. you're asking the one question that matters: will a stranger actually move?
unlimited revisions is not generous. it's a project with no ending.
price round three. put a real number on the third pass and watch round three quietly stop happening. it's not mean, it's the thing that lets the project finish, for both of you.
shipped this week: printable results for all five of our quizzes, a fix for a logo bug that was quietly blanking our free covers, and two new articles.
not a launch. just a list. you don't need a big moment to show your work, you just need a list you can point at.
That's it. One page, three boxes, filled in before you dial. You sound senior because you're prepared, not because you memorized clever lines. Try it on your next call.
What's the one task you keep moving to next week? Not the scary big leap. The small 20-minute thing you somehow never do. Drop it below. Sometimes saying it out loud is the whole push you needed.
So here's the exercise: ten businesses within a twenty minute drive whose website or booking page you could genuinely make better. Then one short email each, naming the one thing you noticed. Not a pitch. What would you fix first?
The businesses near you aren't on Upwork and they're not reading design twitter. The dentist. The plumber with three vans. The gym down the road. They know something's off with how they look online, and nobody has ever offered to fix it.
Someone wants to hire you and can't afford you.
Most people cut the price or slowly stop replying. There's a third move: offer the smallest useful piece. One page instead of five. A paid review instead of the whole build.
They get help today. Your number stays your number.
A test that helps: ask which one is easier to undo. Pricing, niche, the name, the offer, you can change nearly all of it later. So pick the one you can start on Monday and let the real work tell you the rest.
And when two options are close, the gap between them is small by definition. So the cost of picking wrong is small too. The cost of not picking runs every day, and it's the bigger number.
