Increased investments in housing, education, healthcare, community progs, etc, lead to long-term improvements in public safety & community well-being - not additional surveillance by the police or government.

Sleeping on the street for a week is not comparable to losing your stability and then struggling to get your most basic needs met with no end in sight while most of the world treats you like gum on their shoe & people profit off your suffering.

@OliviaMesser @LoneStarLeft In times of chaos, when the next right step is unclear & the future unknown, focusing on what we can control is one of the most empowering things we can do. Right now, we can actively advocate for peace & nonviolence, and we can support each other with kindness & empathy.

Please help us help people living outside. We need: -water -sunscreen -portable handheld fans -small spray bottles -waterproof bags -reusable bags -feminine hygiene products -toiletries -ready-to-eat foods, etc. Also, keep items in your car in case you meet someone in need. 💙

Many people who are homeless do not struggle with addiction or mental illness. Among many other reasons, homelessness is the result of a housing crisis, outdated zoning laws, lack of renter protections, no limit to corporate housing - not just being in a "self-destructive loop."

@vkhosla Vinod, you are a good human being. Thank you. 🙏 It's easy blame homeless for their circumstances but many are a product of their environment, addiction, mental health (what's the Venn diagram?). At some point it stops being a choice for many, stuck in a self-destructive loop.

Homeless is the unfinished business of the civil rights movement. It’s time to finish the job. The war on the poor is has far to many casualties its past time to fight back.

@Fierceroller23 @jacobrday We strongly advocate for additional renter protections, including oversight & regulation of landlords. The founder of @HomelessNHuman was unhoused by a Harford County Councilman right here in Maryland who had not disclosed himself as the owner of the townhouse she was renting.

Opening the #MoralMarchonWashington with a reminder of why we’re here, the organizing it took to make it to this moment, and what we’re fighting for. We’re coming together to fight for what we deserve, poverty should not be a death sentence.

Can you even begin to imagine weathering the weather with no relief or reprieve in sight? There is a severe lack of housing and other resources. Wait lists for help are often closed or are years & years long.
