After 11 weeks, my subathon is over. 8252 subs. 🥂 Even looking at it now, I can't even process it. 💗 With that said, it actually ended two nights ago. I missed it when it happened. And I know it's not a big deal, it's not the end of the world, but in the moment it was devastating, like I had failed in the one responsibility I had. I'd never done a subathon before, and my experience watching other streamers was that finishing one felt like a New Years Eve party. They count it down, someone edges and adds 10 minutes, and maybe this goes on for a few days but eventually it ends, and it's a big celebration and catharsis. Instead, I was popping in and out of Monster Hunter fights, and somewhere in the back of my mind I knew we were really close, but it had been 11 weeks (by the way CRAZY for a first subathon, and an amazing success, don't let me fool you), and it had been extended a number of times now so I guess I got used to not taking the end as seriously and my guard was down. I had just gotten back to my computer with a snack and I looked at the timer and said "oh shit, we've only got 20 minutes!" --- at which point I was informed that it had actually casually hit zero when no one was (at least I wasn't) paying attention, and our overlay had broken so instead of locking at zero it had jumped back up when someone gifted. What followed was probably 10 minutes of sitting there muted while I sobbed, then maybe an hour of playing silently, before composing myself and wrapping the subathon more graciously. Because the truth is the past 11 weeks have been incredible. I've gotten to reconnect with so many friends through collabs, I've been streaming my heart out for 12-15 hours a day, and my community has been so supportive and generous and kind. When I originally set goals, I was super ambitious, numerically (I think my highest goal was 5000 subs), but the reality was I figured we'd be lucky if we got to 300. And that's probably why I haven't done one until now, even though I've been streaming for coming up on three years. I know this is probably my self-esteem talking, but I've always been afraid of subathons because I've been worried no one would care, or I'd be asking too much of my community when I know people are struggling, and I'd end up embarrassed for trying. I had a friend tell me that their first subathon lasted two hours, and that was terrifying to me. I didn't even know if anyone would care when I debuted, despite all the love and care and hard work I put into everything. At yet despite that you all proved me wrong, and absolutely knocked all of my goals out of the park. And I should be ecstatic. I am ecstatic. It doesn't feel real. I know I'm incredibly blessed to have such a supportive community, and I hope I can continue to earn that support and be the kind of content creator you want to spend time with, even though at the end of the day I still feel new to all this and I'm doing the best I can to learn on the fly and not let you guys down. And I know there will be other subathons. I'm just struggling, even now, with the fact that I didn't get to give this one the sendoff it deserved, and I hate that. But I'll get past it, and we'll move on and keep doing our thing and get it right next time. This has been a huge learning experience. I'm sure I've messed things up. I've been so scared I'm doing everything wrong and that after that incredible debut everyone will get bored and leave, hahaha. I still feel guilty that I made everyone wait 7 hours to show off my toggles because I didn't know what I was doing in spite of all my hard work and prep. And I know this shouldn't matter but the truth is I DO feel the weight and influence of my very powerful and talented vtuber siblings, all of whom I look up to as a creator, and I hope I can live up to the incredible bar they set. I feel like the bratty runt biting at everyone's ankles trying to carve out a place for myself in this industry that feels authentic. Anyway, I've been rambling too long. Point is, I guess I just needed to dissect my feelings a little bit, and if you've made it this far, I appreciate you for hearing me out. To my community, words can't express how grateful I am to have you with me on this adventure. I love doing this, and I want to keep doing this as long as I can. I want to get better. I want to grow this community and platform, so we can keep kicking ass into the future. Much love. ❤️‍🔥
