@atlurbanist There is a potential for alignment between urban-suburban Rs who want MARTA expansion and Dems. MARTA by all appearances has been poorly managed over the last decade. It will be difficult to push for more MARTA without governance reforms.

@trentjhughes It’s a conflicted business. If you pay an advisor 1% on top of the underlying fees, you are talking about 1.5-2.5% of AUM in fees. Clients are likely mostly in index funds with an expected long term inflation adjusted return of 5-7%. 25% of their expected returns go to this guy

@andrewglynch Yes. Go back 18 months in time. Any time you spent learning the latest tools and techniques was wasted time outside of whatever tool or script or html that it actually produced. Eventually it will either be beneficial enough to make people’s lives better or it will be a waste

One of my pet theories is that all this insane running around to figure out how best to use AI is largely unnecessary because when we arrive on use cases for AI that drive real economic value, it’ll be obvious (and quickly adopted into other software) eg Replit, Cursor for coding, Claude in Ppt to auto-format slides, etc If you want to be on the cutting edge, go for it, and you’ll probably be rewarded for doing so but if you don’t, don’t worry about it, just start using the tech once it’s common practice in your field very few people got “left behind” because they weren’t early adopters of PCs or the internet, for example, as long as you started using spreadsheets and email when everyone else did
