Switched to a cheaper pair of earbuds for about a month last year, mostly by accident, mine broke and I didn't want to spend on AirPods again right away. The sound was better. Not close, actually better in the bass and the clarity. Went back to AirPods anyway within a few weeks. Not because of the audio. Because switching between my phone and my laptop without opening an app felt too convenient to give up. That's when it clicked that the reputation isn't really about the product at all. It's about how hard the ecosystem makes it for you to leave once you're in. People will still defend the sound quality anyway, because admitting you're paying for convenience feels worse than admitting you're paying for engineering. The same thing happens with content that gets called good just because a big account posted it first. Nobody actually checks whether it holds up, they just assume it does because of who posted it. @RallyOnChain doesn't score reach. It scores the submission itself, the argument, the accuracy, the originality, against a rubric that doesn't care who's posting. A real point from a small account can outscore a recycled one from a huge account. That only works if people are willing to say the boring, unpopular truth instead of repeating the version everyone already agrees with. What's a piece of tech you keep buying new versions of purely out of habit, and when's the last time you actually compared it to a cheaper alternative?
