I think one of the most important aspects of @LauraLoomer’s awakening is that it appears to have been largely self-directed. The credit belongs to her. She challenged her own assumptions, questioned what she thought she knew, and then did the hard work of seeing Ukraine for herself….and while being there, is still asking hard questions. That kind of change does not happen overnight, but when change does come, it’s far more durable because it’s been earned, not imposed. The reality is I know many Trump supporters who have long backed Ukraine. I’ve long believed this is one issue where President Trump was a bit out of step with much of his own base, after spending too much time with bad actors who had his ear - chief among them Tucker Carlson. Supporting Ukraine is America First. Russia is not our conservative ally. I’m encouraged to see more people reaching that conclusion on their own. Truth has a way of prevailing when people are willing to see for themselves.
