Sanjay Singh Exposes IDBI Privatisation: 9,880 SC/ST/OBC Jobs on the Chopping Block In a hard-hitting Special Mention in the Rajya Sabha on 12 August 2026, AAP MP **Sanjay Singh** (National Capital Territory of Delhi) exposed the dangerous consequences of the proposed privatisation of IDBI Bank. He pointed out that the Government of India currently holds **45.48%** stake and the Life Insurance Corporation of India holds **49.24%** stake in the bank. Once this public sector bank is handed over to private owners, reservation in recruitment and promotions will end. This will directly hit the career opportunities, promotions, and representation of SC, ST and OBC communities in higher posts. As of 31 March 2026, a total of **9,880** employees from these categories are working in IDBI Bank: - Officers: 2,701 SC, 1,106 ST, 4,960 OBC - Executives: 250 SC, 70 ST, 540 OBC - Clerks: 40 SC, 18 ST, 35 OBC - Sub-staff: 37 SC, 20 ST, 61 OBC Total: 3,070 SC + 1,214 ST + 5,604 OBC employees. Sanjay Singh warned that privatisation will wipe out the constitutional protection of reservation that these employees currently enjoy. Once the bank becomes private, the new owners will have no obligation to follow reservation policies. This is not reform.
