AI has crushed private equity activity in tech and software.
Toughest part of finance is longevity. Most people burn out or get pushed out before they make real money.
@tribebrowns Fair point. Though I think skiing shows where it can head if everything consolidates.
Don’t expect PE exits to pick up. Inflation means rates stay high and weak deal activity continues.
Boutique investment banks (Lazard, Moelis, etc) pay a lot. But bulge brackets are still the best for building a career. Easier to build network and bring in deals.
@tieyournumbers They are better for technical skills and reps, so good if you are dead set on PE. But I think the BB brand + network is more valuable overall.

@TheAlphaLetters Most MDs at boutiques came from the BBs. It’s much harder to start sourcing without the platform and resources from them.
