Extortion Suspect Was In Canada Illegally When Arson and Shooting Attacks Took Place A man facing charges in connection with two extortion cases in British Columbia, which involved arson and shootings, was in Canada illegally. According to the CBC, 24-year-old Vikram Sharma entered Canada in June 2022 on a student visa, which expired in April 2024. Authorities flagged Sharma for using fraudulent documents when trying to extend his student visa. The incidents targeted the residences of Punjabi singer AP Dhillon in August and September 2024, occurring while Sharma was illegally in the country. Both attacks were recorded and circulated on social media. “At the time of the offences, Mr. Sharma was a foreign national in Canada without legal status,” Crown prosecutor Jess Patterson informed the presiding judge. Sharma fled to India via Pearson airport in Toronto on October 9th, 2024 and is still wanted in Canada.
