Whether or how adoption is achieved aside, blockchain-based systems are the next chapter in the evolution of human governance. Liquid democracy is the next chapter. The next chapter is about so much more than transparency, it’s about control, and @Polkadot is the first to prove that a liquid democracy can be facilitated at scale using blockchain. Polkadot is the first large-scale system to not just tokenize an otherwise intangible vote and track it on-chain, but to allow that tokenized vote to be delegated, un-delegated, and even have its delegation split across different voting tracks to different delegates. Self-executing governance is just a cherry on-top. Liquid democracy is not a relatively new concept, being at least 130 years old, but it’s never been able to be facilitated & achieved at scale. However, limited by the capabilities of technology at that time, a system where a citizen is able to feely delegate or un-delegate at whim, let alone split their vote across different tracks, would be impossible for institutions to manage. Fast forward to today, and in what I believe to be the most significant advancement achieved in governance systems of the 21st century, #Polkadot has achieved what was once thought to be impossible. Liquid democracy makes it possible for every voter to have absolute control over their vote, having their vote always be used to accurately represent them, and helps combat the impact of lobbying against the interests of everyday individuals. I believe every political science professor should be researching this achievement & every student should be studying this next chapter. What Polkadot has achieved is an evolutionary feat. Liquid democracy is the future. 💫
