August 12, 2026… Can you explain the celestial events that are all happening simultaneously on August 12? From Claude Opus 5… Three separate shows stacked into one day (August 12, 2026), and two of them are actually causally linked. Before dawn: six-planet alignment. Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune spread across the sky - not a tight line, but a broad arc along the ecliptic. Mars and Saturn are easiest with the naked eye; Jupiter and Mercury sit very low in dawn twilight; Uranus and Neptune need binoculars. Late in the day: total solar eclipse. The path crosses Greenland, Iceland, and northern Spain, with maximum at 17:45:53 UTC and up to 2 minutes 18 seconds of totality. This is mainland Europe’s first total eclipse since 1999. In Spain it happens with the Sun low on the horizon, so you get a rare golden-hour eclipse. Rest of us in the US get a partial bite at best. Certified ISO 12312-2 glasses for any partial phase, no exceptions. After dark: Perseid peak. Predicted maximum is 14:53 UTC on August 13, so midnight to dawn is the real window. Expect 30-50 meteors an hour from a rural site, more under truly dark skies. Here’s the neat part: the eclipse and the great Perseids are the same phenomenon wearing two hats. A total eclipse requires a new moon, and a new moon means no moonlight washing out faint meteors. Best Perseids since 2024 and the best until 2028, for exactly the reason the eclipse is happening at all. Northern Spain is the sweet spot if you want both - totality around 8:30 pm, sunset shortly after, fully dark sky by late evening.

I've actually sent 3-4 detailed emails there over the past month with my full account details and a description of the issue, and haven't heard back yet.
