Footballers from the second division are now calling on Liga MX players to join their fight for the return of promotion and relegation. Mexican players are not asking for a place in the first division. They are demanding the right to earn it. They warn that salaries continue to decline, while fans are slowly losing interest and stadiums are becoming increasingly empty. This is no longer just about promotion and relegation. It is about the future and integrity of Mexican football. My deepest respect to every player who has the courage to speak up. The Mexican Football Federation can no longer afford to ignore them.

Judging by the retreat of open soccer during Victor Montagliani’s Concacaf presidency, we should want him nowhere near FIFA’s top job. Under his regional leadership: • Mexico suspended then ended promotion and relegation. • Copa MX disappeared. • MLS tried to pull its first teams from the U.S. Open Cup and has since sharply reduced participation. • MLS and Liga MX created the closed Leagues Cup. • Montagliani helped elevate that closed competition into an official pathway to the Concacaf Champions Cup. • MLS and Liga MX now stop their domestic seasons for Leagues Cup while clubs outside those two closed leagues are excluded. • Every Gold Cup during his tenure has been staged at least primarily in the United States, and every final has remained there. The direction under his Concacaf leadership is unmistakable: fewer meaningful open competitions, weakened domestic cups, a suspended promotion pathway and more power concentrated in North America’s closed leagues. That is not the record of someone who should be entrusted with the future of world soccer.

Very proud of the players in Mexico who are finally taking action to fight for the return of promotion and relegation. Something is changing. Now they need our help. Keep sharing their message and supporting their fight. The Mexican Football Federation can no longer ignore them. Players from Mineros, Venados, Morelia, Cancún and Leones Negros covered their mouths in protest, a symbol of a federation that refuses to listen and continues to sanction them whenever they speak out. The players have made one thing clear: they won't stop. They will continue taking action until the federation finally listens and takes meaningful steps toward restoring promotion and relegation. Liga MX players, many of whom came through the promotion system themselves, should also support them. Defending promotion and relegation means defending the pathway that allowed so many players to achieve their dreams. The players have the power to stop the league if they choose to. Seeing clubs stand together like this is powerful. The fans are standing with them too. Chants of "¡Ascenso, Ascenso!" around Liga Expansión stadiums. Players are not asking for a place in the top division. They are asking for the right to earn it. They are not asking for privileges. They are asking for equal opportunities to compete and progress through sporting merit. Mexican football fans, this is your moment. Time to fight for the future of your game. Stand with the players. Stand for promotion and relegation.

They looked like a rent-a-mob from Morocco's al-karyan, engineered to cross over and create a diplomatic crisis for Spain? Why? Well, ask the Israeli government, whose Moroccan partner is ever ready to create an embarrassment for the @sanchezcastejon government as a consequence of its position on the genocide of the Palestinians. Remember when the Moroccan King did the same thing in 2021 when the Spanish government arranged for medical care of Brahim Ghali (leader of @Polisario_).

Hi! Nederlander hier. I have been targeted multiple times by the IDF while reporting on their activities in Lebanon. I have made the Dutch embassy aware each time. I have been shot at as recently as four weeks ago, had a grenade dropped close to me by an Israeli quadcopter and last year I was chased by a Merkava tank while reporting about an illegal IDF base in Houla. Almost all incidents were caught on video. Israeli snipers have shot at me 8 times (I am legally in Lebanon, they are not) Will you wait until they kill me to make a statement about specifically Israel’s murder spree? How many hundreds of us do they have to kill before you hold them accountable? They have killed almost 30 media professionals in Lebanon alone.
