That’s genuinely insane. My “favourite” UK-China comparison is Hinkley Point C vs the city of Shenzhen. > 1980 Shenzhen SEZ announced > 1981 Hinkley Point C announced Today Hinkley Point C is still incomplete with yet more delays. Unit 1 expected to come online in 2030 (I highly doubt it). In comparison Shenzhen went from a network of fishing villages with a GDP of $37 million to a mega city with a GDP of $557 billion. It has two operational nuclear power plants. It is genuinely hard to describe the state of Britain if you have not visited newly developed parts of the world. Practically nothing has been built in Britain in the last 50 years, it isn’t just stagnating, it’s dying.

So you need higher growth in cross border transactions because ultimately that drives ancillary services. Many of which dont exist yet but could be lucrative

@rhomboid1MF @GoLeftMassa @UKstockpicker Its company policy for all permanent employees to receive equity so recruitment costs are probably higher since head count was up 25% last year. Thats not to say we should ignore the equity costs as just that, costs but I dont think this is a Beeks type thing...

@GoLeftMassa @UKstockpicker Hi Ben, I don't think so. It was well flagged a year or so ago when they talked about higher levels of 'investment', by which they mean SG&A. There was an additional c. $45m in listing costs i believe as well as a big ramp up in marketing spend especially in the middle east

Imagine the climate movement took off a few decades earlier, when there was a gap between Americans and Europeans with white goods like fridges or washing machines. Left wing european politicians would be campaigning against the fridge, as they campaign against air con today.
