@MyNumbersGarden @JonPgh Another option is to generate your own values, such as based on the delta of their statistics from the average of players to be auctioned, and then account for inflation and whatnot.
@MyNumbersGarden @JonPgh One somewhat unscientific (but also fairly straightforward) approach is to find a valuation system, like fangraphs.com/fantasy-tools/… and then “match” your projection ranking to the dollar values. Example, match your 10th best player to the 10th highest value, and so on.
Take Rutschman and Diaz for instance. Many projections systems show them with nearly identical counting stats save for Diaz batting ~20 points higher. Yet most rankings systems put Rutschman at #2 and Diaz is not always even as high as the consensus #3. Do the experts know something that the projections do not?
@JonPgh Curious to get your thought on the usefulness of expert consensus rankings. Given how projection-accuracy is measured (namely delta from actuals), a lot of "value" in players doesn't seem to show up in projections models. Do we ignore non-projection rankings at our own peril?

@JonPgh I like that it gives more than just strike rate -- provides an indication of a pitcher's ability to punch guys out (it is arguably an indicator of stuff and control).
Heck, make it the world’s pastime for that matter.
Put @mlb_big_inning on YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. For free. Nationalize more revenue. Build the fan base. Make baseball America’s pastime again.
