Graham was a congressman for over 31 years, with 8 years being in the U.S. House of Representatives and 23 years being in the U.S. Senate. He was 71 years old.

BREAKING: According to Bloomberg, China has warned Russia to not use nuclear arms against Ukraine: Senior Chinese officials have confirmed they relayed that message to Moscow in talks with a Western government official ahead of this week's NATO Summit, according to an EU official with knowledge of the conversation. The topic of potential tactical nuclear weapon use was also raised during at least one leader's meeting with President Zelensky at the summit. This comes as discussions surrounding Russia's potential use of nuclear weapons have intensified in 2026, with officials and major Russian media outlets making the case for tactical nuclear weapons more forcefully and explicitly than at any other point during the war. Sergei Karaganov, a Russian political scientist and foreign policy hawk who advises the Kremlin, has repeatedly urged Putin to resort to a pre-emptive nuclear strike to undermine Western military support for Ukraine and bring an end to the war. Putin himself has hinted at this concept several times, most notably in 2024, when he revised Russia's nuclear doctrine to expand the circumstances under which a Russian president can order such strikes. The revised doctrine allows for a nuclear response to an attack "by any non-nuclear state" if it is carried out with the participation or support of a nuclear-armed state. Vladimir Putin has also rejected calls in recent days to negotiate with Kyiv, with two sources speaking to Reuters stating that President Putin is likely to escalate the conflict and describing a high probability of escalation in the coming months. This follows recent months of Ukrainian successes on the battlefield, including strikes against several key oil refineries, military facilities, and bridges, particularly across Crimea, which has become increasingly cut off from mainland Russia and is currently experiencing both food and fuel shortages.

BREAKING: According to CENTCOM, the U.S. is currently conducting strikes against several targets in Iran, with several explosions reported in both Bandar Abbas and Sirik. The strikes come in response to Iran's targeting of commercial shipping earlier today, which reportedly struck three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. A U.S. official has also stated that these ongoing attacks are punitive rather than proportional, further adding that they will not be over for a while.

BREAKING: U.S. officials believed that Israel might have been plotting to assassinate Iran's top negotiators while both Iran and Washington were negotiating, per NYT. Amid growing concerns that an Israeli assassination would jeopardize and potentially destroy all hopes of negotiations, Washington went so far as to ask other countries in the region to warn Iran about the possibility of an assassination attempt targeting both Araghchi and Ghalibaf. Furthermore, in April, when Ghalibaf was returning from Islamabad after a meeting with Vice President JD Vance, an Israeli security threat reportedly emerged. BREAKING: A large-scale Russian attack is expected in the overnight hours tonight, with Zelenskyy cutting his meeting short in Ireland and urgently returning to Ukraine, while warning citizens to adhere to air raid alerts. The last major combined attack against Ukraine occurred June 15th. The initial phase of the attack is currently ongoing with drones like Geran-3 and Geran-4s. The amount of bombers used tonight isn't fully confirmed; however, several bombers are airborne, including both Tu-95s and Tu-160Ms, with the expectation of hundreds of drones as well as ballistic missiles from Russia throughout the night.

BREAKING: A terrorist attack has occurred at a Pakistani Rangers compound in Karachi, Pakistan. So far, 8 people are dead, 5 of whom are terrorists responsible for the attack, and 3 are Pakistan Rangers personnel. The assailants responsible are Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA), an offshoot of the Pakistani Taliban (TTP). This group was also responsible for the terrorist attack in Islamabad late last year that killed 12 individuals.

BREAKING: Per the United States Geological Survey, a rare earthquake doublet has struck near Valencia, Venezuela. The first earthquake measured 7.2 on the Richter scale, with a second earthquake hitting 39 seconds later at 7.5, causing extensive damage throughout the area. The USGS estimates there is a high possibility of thousands of fatalities, with economic losses potentially reaching up to 20% of Venezuela's GDP — around $22 billion USD.

BREAKING: The Russian frigate Admiral Grigorovich fired warning shots near a UK-registered yacht in the English Channel earlier today, according to the BBC. The incident occurred around 20 NM south of the Isle of Wight, with British authorities receiving reports from the yacht that the shots landed around 500 yards away. It occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. today. Prior to this incident, there had been no precedent in modern history of a Russian frigate firing warning shots at a vessel in the English Channel. The British MoD has stated that it is investigating the incident.

BREAKING: Last Friday, on two separate occasions, Russian jets came within a few hundred meters of the Swedish territorial border, east of Landsort in Stockholm's archipelago and in Hanö Bay outside Blekinge. The Swedish Armed Forces Chief of Operations, Ewa Skoog Haslum, stated that, "The purpose of this could be to test our preparedness." Within the Swedish Armed Forces, these flights are seen as a coherent operation, and in both cases, the Swedish Armed Forces scrambled Gripen fighter jets to intercept the Russian jets and issued warnings over radio. UPDATE: Following the crash of a B-52 Stratofortress shortly after takeoff earlier today at Edwards Air Force Base, the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) has confirmed the loss of all 8 crew members on board the aircraft. This makes it the first deadly crash of a B-52 airframe since the 2008 crash of a B-52H off the coast of Guam, that killed all 6 crew members on board the aircraft.

BREAKING: A B-52 Stratofortress has crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base in Kern County California. There is currently no information about the crew onboard. This is the first time since 2016 that a B-52 Stratofortress has crashed, when the aircraft overran the runway during an abandoned takeoff attempt at Andersen Air Force Base.
