Happy #AlohaFriday! This is the infamous Red Sand Beach on Maui, but do you know the real reason why this is one of the few beaches that have red sand? These hillsides contain a very interesting compound - iron, which reacts with the sand to give it that beautiful red tint.
Keiki - "child" in Hawaiian. This term is used to describe what you see here, which are "child" coffee plants that are ready to be planted in the volcanic soil of tropical Kona, HI.
