@poetx Hell, ATCQ gets 500K streams a day, which nets $150K/month with no new material in 10 years. Putting new shit out also boosts streams of your back catalog. The math says put out everything and let fans decide what they like/dislike and get paid either way chartmasters.org/artist/a-tribe…

@poetx Not everyone is doing Drake numbers, obv. but still: chartmasters.org/artist/drake/ 1.4B monthly streams, bringing in $10M a month! If your album does 10% of that, that's a million a month. It also kills the need to trim fat: a 15 track album will pay you more than a 10 track album

@poetx I blame streaming. You put out a 10 song LP and all 10 tracks get played by people and you get revenue from each song, instead of radio play for singles and whole album sales. The financial motivation today leans towards volume over quality.
