This is also an argument I don’t get. Wild card games are playoff games, no? As for the stats on the right: -His 91.6 passer rating his higher than Tom Brady’s -His 3.25 TD-INT ratio beyond the WC round is still 4th all-time -He’s put up 25 PPG. His D allowed 28 PPG

Everyone wants to blame Pay-to-Play for the US Soccer’s lack of success internationally, but that’s not even in the top 5 reasons. Top 5 reasons US Soccer will continue to lag on the International Stage. Not sure these are changing anytime soon, unless there is a massive culture shift, which I just don’t see happening… and I’m a huge Soccer fan. But I will always prefer to follow the EPL over the MLS for a reason. 1. The main goal of players/parents and club directives in our US system is playing in college, not professionally. The rest of the world is the opposite. 2. US clubs/parents and players care more about winning than development. Competitive games do not even start in European academies until teenage years. In the US we have U8 competitive leagues. 3. Because of #2, you have coaches and parents screaming at children and (child) referees on the sidelines contributing to massive anxiety and burn-out of kids at ridiculously early ages. 4. Soccer is just not inbred into our culture like it is in the rest of the world. Most families are throwing American footballs around in backyards on Thanksgiving morning not kicking soccer balls. 5. We have too many sports options and at least 2 or 3 more popular that have a much more popular professional pathways. The NFL and NBA drafts are huge TV events, and the final goal for best players. Most top soccer players are simply looking for a D1 College Scholarships, and getting a good degree. This circles back to #1.

For American boys or men, it is certainly on their minds when they train in their sport. For some athletes from low socioeconomic backgrounds, football and basketball is a way out of poverty. They want to pay for their parent’s houses and lift their families up through a professional salary.

For professional team sports for women. WNBA and NWSL is the best path to earn a good salary while also continuing their playing career in adulthood. Also other countries are finally catching up to USWNT. USA is not as dominant compared to years past during Hamm, Wambach or Morgan era.

Agility or some call it “change of direction” is tied with acceleration attributes. The ability to go from walking to high speeds is definitely a trait that Messi excels at. It’s honestly what Messi is known for. He’s deceptively walking around until it’s time to spring into action.
